Anti-repressed memories campaigns come from respected researchers and, unfortunately, from groups that induce dissociation and amnesia. Much confusion is caused because people attempt to apply principles and research on normal memories, confusional techniques, contrived experiments, trauma, etc., and mix this in with the phenomena from security forces, criminal groups, psychopaths, and some physicians that practice intentional dissociation/amnesia techniques. The people who induce dissociation/amnesia do not want to answer to people in public proceedings. Normal repression and traumatic dissociation/amnesia is different than intentionally induced dissociation/amnesia that utilizes exhaustion, malnutrition, illness, torture, conditioning, confusion, deception, drugs, electricity, and hypnotic techniques. It would be helpful if professionals would distinguish between “repressed memories” and “erased memories” in their research and discussions.
