Sandra, that is a key point. Sometimes I wonder if I check out with other forms of bilateral stimulation. Though I never the last EMDR session. I recall when doing the eye movements that my therapist was able to keep me on track, to get me to follow the full range. I resisted, some physical discomfort in not being used to doing this and, perhaps something more. I don't know for sure as we switched to tapping and then the vibrations. Maybe now I realize that I did somehow check out and I am ready to move past that, or whatever part of me checked out is ready to stay checked in.

I must say I find it very interesting that I would come to the conclusion, awareness, decision whatever that I need to use eye movements now. So, there seems to be something of importance in it. Whatever that is, I don't know. It does seem to require more of the client, not as passive. It also seems to offer more distraction, takes more effort to do the eye movement that to hold the vibrating paddles in your hands. Are either or both of these important?

I find it so very interesting.
