    Re:Cognitive Therapy for Axis I comorbidities w Schizophrenia

    Your experience is quite consistent with my own.

    I've worked with a number of individuals whose schizophrenia was reasonably well-controlled by medication but who needed treatment for other axis I problems such as social phobia, depression, substance abuse, etc. My experience has been that CBT works well but that it usually is necessary to proceed more slowly than I would with non-schizophrenics because schizophrenic clients usually have difficulty tolerating intense affect.
