Linda has reason in their comments. Jeff Young in his book, Cognitive Therapy of Personality Disorders: A Schema Focused Approach. When he explains the schemas coping styles of maintenance, avoidance and compensation, use defence mechanism as exemples of schema processes. Concretly, the repression mechanism of defence can be an avoidance processes.
In the other hand, Anthony Ryle has one book named Cognitive Analytic Therapy, where he links theoretical concepts of two approach. But, I have only read the book. And I do not have notices about reports of their uses and therapeutical efectiveness.
