Here's a really wierd thing that worked for me. I found that reading something, even if it's the laundry directions on my jeans or the back of a dollar bill distracts me just enough to get things going at the other end. I've tried other kinds of distracting activities, but nothing works like reading something. This, in turn, gets you over the anticipatory anxiety, making it easier the next time. I wonder if there is some connection between the two areas of the brain that control these respective functions.
