Simply Reviewing Previous Homework Substantially Improves Compliance with Subsequent Homework
Jim Pretzer · 12/19/99 at 11:25 pm ET

A recent study looked empirically at factors influencing homework compliance in CT and found when therapists reviewed the homework assigned in the previous session, this predicted compliance with subsequent homework assignments. If therapists reviewed the previous homework assignment, subsequent compliance was better, and if they did not review the assignment, subsequent compliance was worse. This study has a number of limitations, for one thing it analyzed data from only four therapists with limited experience in CT, but it does emphasize the importance of consistently reviewing your clients' homework assignments.
