Freiheit, Vye, Swan, & Cady (2004) surveyed 500 psychologists in Minnesota to assess the extent to which empirically-supported treatments were being used in treating individuals with OCD, Panic Disorder, and Social Anxiety Disorder. They found that a majority of psychologists treating these disorders reported using CBT, having learned about it at workshops or conferences. Unfortunately, when the survey examined the specific techniques that the respondents reported using, it appeared that exposure-based treatment was used much less than would be recommended by empirically-supported treatment protocols.
