I have a client who feels guilt over his positive qualities and achievements. He feels that he doesn't deserve to enjoy them because others weren't fortunate enough to have these positive qualities. He also feels that he has to "suffer" in order to compensate for the good things he enjoys in life. Furthermore, he feels that accomplishments would make people envy him and thus he said he often sabotages his achievements. I showed him how his thoughts are distorted but that didn’t convince him. He believes in the “Evil Eye” and thinks that the envy of people might harm him if good things happen to him. Please advise me on what techniques to use in this case. Thanks,
Alexander
