The Academy of Cognitive Therapy's Trauma Task Force has compiled an empirically-based report on treatments for victims of trauma which has been published on the ACT web-site. To see the information there for both the public and for mental health professionals, go to the ACT homepage ( http://academyofct.org) and use the "Trauma Info" link at the left side of the page.
This report was developed and prepared for the web-site through many hours of volunteer service. The committee worked steadily from the first week in October through the third week in December reading pertinent research articles, combing the web for empirically-based information sites, and discussing what information to emphasize.
Committee members who wrote the report are: Ari Cohen and Susan Westover (child section), Dom Candido, Lata McGinn, and Mark Sisti (adult section), and Vicki Gluhoski and Christine Padesky (mental health professional section).
In addition, Kate Gillespie, Director of the Cognitive Therapy Centre in Omagh, Northern Ireland and Anke Ehlers from the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma at Maudsley Hospital/Institute of Psychiatry in London reviewed parts of the summaries and gave the task force helpful feedback. Anke Ehlers also facilitated the availability of the electronic reprint of the seminal article she and David Clark wrote on the cognitive model for PTSD, courtesy of Elsevier Press.
