One of my residents presented a case in group supervision today of a patient who 6 months ago suddenly developed a paralysis (total) from the neck down, with no identifiable organic pathology. This was evaluated in another hospital, the patient sent for rehabilitation. She now walks with 2 canes, and has no sensation from the waist down. He was referred this patient for continuing outpatient treatment 4 weeks ago. Her significant other openly discusses the fact that consultants in the hospital found "nothing wrong", a fact which the patient can't remember. She also has a major depression. Our question is if there is any data to support the use of CT, or if anyone has experience in using CT with conversion disorders - we see so few of them that I have little experience of my own, and would appreciate any words of wisdom.
