Re:Safety seeking behaviours in psychotic in- patients

    Peter,
the key to understanding safety seeking behaviours lies in understanding the threat which motivates the behaviour. This allows the important distinction between safety seeking behaviour and coping behaviour; they are not equivalent. There is a detailed discussion of this in the 1996 article in "trends in cognitive-behavioural therapy", as well as some in the 1991 article on SSB. Vis a vis psychosis, Tony Morrison has written about dealing with SSBs recently in several places.
    best wishes
    Paul
