I'd agree that CT is stronger as a theory of the processes involved in maintainance of psychopathology and as a treatment approach that as a theory of the development of psychopathology. This is not surprising, most of the people involved in the development of CT were clinicians, not developmental psychologists. However, some of us would dispute the idea that CT underemphasizes the therapeutic alliance. Beck & co. emphasize the importance of a collaborative relationship and argue that this is central to CT.
