I have a qustion that is bothering me: if there is a link between manic-depression and creativity i.e. if sometimes the overwhelming emotional struggles can result in highly creative insights, how can we know where to draw a line in treating a disease that can turn into a gift? Approaching extreme depression as a higly maladaptive (combination of) reasoning patterns and learned behaviour and from there trating it in a rational fashion alone - must take us away from cosidering what it can result in. Would it not then, in such a case, the success of CBT be a failure of a creative possibility that left alone might lead into non-ratioanal solution. How does one treat Newton or Dostoyevski?
