The Practice of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy by Ellis and Dryden discusses the use of REBT in various settings, including groups. Dryden gives an outline of a self-acceptance group in there. I have found that group counseling is a wonderful setting for cognitive therapy - in that you can teach the basic skills and concepts like a class, then use group members' specific problems as examples on the board, allowing group members to openly discuss cognitive conceptualization and disputation. Other group members often give more useful explanations of applying CT concepts than the group leader can, in later stages of the group. If it's a revolving door type group rather than a time limited curriculum-based group, the group can explain the concepts to new members (this allows you to assess everyone's knowledge of CT). I did this in an Intensive Day Treatment setting for five years, and I can point you toward good REBT materials for use in the group if you like. Willie
