The Limbic System just above the brain stem plays an important role in human emotion (which we use in playing the piano), also plays an important role in learning and memory which of course is essential in playing the Piano.

The brain stem directs our reflexes, and automatic control of the eye, face, and head. It also helps us interpret basic sensations involving taste, hearing, vision, and balance. So the brainstem gives us tonal ability and timing ability to play the piano.
