In my opinon the point in which a person is able to make a mature decision based on what's right not worrying about favor is definitly left negotiable, because favor, and the thougt of being accepted is a phase that all humans go through at some point in their life, besides no one wants enemies. Therefore I feel that the point in the maturation process where one will finally be able to make a righteous decision without worrying about favor will come when they are happy with themselves as a whole, and can be ok if they're not excepted by everyone.
