Probably a lot of truth in all of that. Letters after a person's name have been compared to tin cans. The more strung along the more noise rattling behind every move. Hiring a person 'with rapport' seems to be more important than seeing someone with a doctoral tin can. Sometimes the person 'with rapport' may not be even 'professionally qualified' but just has the knack of helping. However, many people with plenty of tincans & 'with the knack' as well .. should be highly valued.
