Some advice for Fighting Back Client Abuse...

    Some advice...

1.) Psychotherapy ethics boards in all states and provinces are not there to protect clients. They are there as a service to the professionals, that's all. Once in a great while, they will punish a shrink for harming a client, but for the most part, the cards are stacked against anyone who files a complaint. It's their word against the clients, and all they have to do is call the client crazy and they win. Also most attorneys won't sue shrinks, they are too busy suing MD's for medical malpractice, and think lawsuits against talk therapy is a waste of their time - unless a shrink has sex with patients.

2.) The only real protection anyone has against a quack, is self reliance and buyer beware tactics. It's like shopping for a used car. I learned that many years ago. If you are not careful about who you see for psychotherapy, your head may get turned to mush and become shrunken. When in doubt, fire your shrink. When in doubt if a friend or family member is getting abused by a shrink, do your best to get the person out of the quacks office, ASAP, and show them the above web sites so they may know how badly quack shrinks can destroy a person.

3.) Sadly, by the time the psychological damage has been done, it's probably too late to fix it. The only thing a person can do for her or himself, if the worst happens as in 1 and 2 above, is tell others about it, so that other innocents will not get their heads destroyed. That's probably the only satisfaction you will get, if a shrink harms you.
