It would be important to listen to talk radio if you want to see examples of highly irrational attack-other by normatives. Yes, humanists also "attack-other" But to say that one group uses this approach more than another could be tainted by one's political leanings as I suspect Perry's post is likely to be. Another observation. There are many, many ways that people are shamed not mentioned in Perrys post. One is the shame damage caused by withholding caring and intimacy very early in life. This is well documented by Gershen Kaufman to cause lack of empathy or caring for the plight of others in later life. There are no more people with lack of caring than those who conduct talk radio (essentially all talk radio hosts are normative right wingers). Where I am on this argument is that attack-other is common with both humanists and normatives (conservatives). And to try to say one group uses attack-other more than another is a biased blame frame---that is, it is inherently "attack-other"!! Important to support other peoples power when making a post otherwise a person posting is engaging in "attack other" without awareness. The problem of lack of knowledge about shame and it's impact in later life is enormous. Trying to pin the tail on a particular donkey or elephant is in my view a diversion from the real task: educating all people on the effects of shame. I wish Perry well and do not wish to engage in an attack/defend round of posts. Thank you for reading this. And thanks again Perry for all the work you put into your post! I am supporting your power!!
