He is making excuses.

Can't diagnose on the message board, but sounds like some antisocial personaility traits.

Hopefully by the time he gets "help" -- and it sounds more like he got caught than is actively seeking help -- you'll be over him.

Don't stay in a relationship with this guy. He's dangerous.
