Some of the points you made are valid and very thought-provoking. However, one thing should be clarified here. Not everyone who is an artist is in it for the money. There are many, many people who work secularly in a different field, yet do artistic works for pleasure. I, for one, am a poet, but I have a full-time job doing something else. My writing has little or nothing to do with whether or not I plan to publish my work. I'll continue to write whether I'm paid or not, whether I share it or not, whether people like it or not. It's part of who I am. Remember, not everyone engages in artistic works for the plaudits of men or to build up a shattered self-image by receiving external praise. Some of us do it because not to write (play music, act, paint, etc.) is like not breathing. We simply MUST do it.
