In my experience when the "stuck" feeling comes up for the therapist(counter-transference) your feeling how stuck your client feels and you also feel stuck. I've worked with quite a few Trauma and sexual abuse clients using regular talk therapy and EMDR. It sounds like this person needs to do some DBT work and Ego State work.
As you know the client needs to get a better sense of herself and increased self confidence before she can possibly be open to considering change of any kind. Taking the time and consciously focussing on building that state for her will make a big difference. EMDR instilations are very effective in this technique.
In my practice I've always encouraged referring therapists to come and sit in the backgroud during EMDR so they can get a sense of what comes up for their clients. The few therapists who have were amazed at the many connections their clients have made over their lives from one point of trauma. perhaps your client would be open to finding an EMDR therapist who would do the same. Good luck.
