As an ex pro "Rugby player" (UK) I know from experience that the psychology of colour is used to insight emotion. In fact at one time the league I played in was up in arms because the away team dressing rooms were painted "Blue" and the home team were painted a deep "Red" Ps I am now following my sporting endevours in a new field. I am a trainee probation officer, the links with my barbaric past on the rugby field are very close though!
The Idea (and it worked) was to set the visiting team in a state of peace and rest! the home team were sent to the field in a rage, our home results that year were tremendous. However this form of psychology was soon banned!
Hope this helps
