    Emotion, Cognition

Todd- waaasup! Actually, I dislike most pharmaceuticals currently available. I think SSRIs are sloppy, overrated, maybe dangerous. I prefer St John Wort, omega-3 fat, exercise. Amphetamine is good (except for the millions who abuse it). My take on amphetamine: enhances dopamine which enhances cortical function (and simultaneously mood) which results in better conscious cognitive (neo-cortex) control over the primitive emotional systems (ADD brains generally don’t seem to build tolerance to it, others may not be so lucky). My bitch with therapy: as I said, virtually all of them grossly underestimate/understate the primacy of emotion/mood. The primacy of emotion s/b paramount. As a person understands/appreciates this, his chances of enhancing conscious cognitive control (and avoiding unnecessary frustration) increase. I know this because Tyler Durden knows this. Fred H.
