Oooh, I have been through something similar! For days after a session *stuff* ould come boiling to the surface. *Stuff* I felt I needed to deal with RIGHT NOW. Your therapist has a good point. The TWO OF YOU need to find a solution. Have the two of you talked about possible solutions? How about using the suggestion you offerred for yourself? Some other ideas for you to consider - You don't say how often you see your therapist. Could you schedule appointments closer together? Good luck to you.
I would journal ALL the stuff that came up as it came up. Then a day or two before my next session I'd condense it to what I wanted to talk about. At first there was WAY more than would fit in one session. It forced me to learn to prioritize.
