Joy Schaverien writes extensively and eloquently about the triangular relationship between the therapist, client and artwork. She refers to the artwork as a 'transactional' object, and discusses the transference and countertransference interactions among all points of the triangle. 'The Revealing Image' and 'Desire and the Female Therapist' are the two books by her that I am familiar with.
