There are many texts you might be interested in as an intro to Art Therapy. Cathy Malchiodi has a fairly new book, The Art Therapy Sourcebook. An overview of different theories is found in Judith Rubin's Approaches in Art Therapy (I believe there is a new edition available).

There are also books about working with specific populations, working in group formats, etc. Check out Stern's Books on-line for a large listing of art therapy literature at sternsbooks.com You can also check out Charles Thomas publishers at www.ccthomas.com
