Hi Andrea,
I've just completed an art therapy course and am now studying counselling as an adjunct. The field is quite small and relatively unknown in our city, however I'd see it as an opportunity rather than a hindrance. The potential to begin running your own programs or private practive is enormous, people need and desire something different and I have no trouble encouraging people to give it a go. The modality speaks for itself, have faith in your passion and go for it...we are lucky enough to be on the cutting edge of this amazing tool..don't let it phase you...be persistent.
