A Guide to Acronyms in the Helping Professions

Note: I have tried to include art, music, and poetry therapy credentilas in the page described below. I would appreciate some feedback about any additions or corrections needed for those. Don :)

Hello, All,

Have you ever been confused by the plethora of acronyms and abbreviations that follow the names of helping professionals on business cards and telephone listings?
I am working on a Guide to Acronyms in the Helping professions. I am still making additions and corrections to this document, and it is currently in a temporary location.

I would appreciate your feedback on whether you think this information is helpful and accurate.

The reason I am posting this here is that many people need to know about licenses and certifications that helping professionals hold, and about the certification boards and professional associations they belong to.

There are a surprisingly large number of helping professions (this list is not at all exhaustive). Some people have as many as six acronyms after their names. What do they all mean?

P.S. I expect that there are many corrections needed in order for this page to be useful. Don't be shy about letting me know about them. I hope you won't TRY to hurt my feelings (some people on these forums seem to do that), but I have pretty thick skin.
