I am about to hold a 12 session art experience for refugee children in a summer camp. This is not an arts and craft session, but niether will there be any attempt at therapy beyond what will naturally come from our art experience. I plan to use clay, charcoal, and tempera paints. Do you have any recommended readings for me? The children range from 3rd grade to 8th grade in age, but due to the war, many are not reading ready even in thier own language. Since verbal communication is restricted by the differences in language, I believe the images will be all the more powerful to the children. Any help or advise will be welcome.
