The professional relatonship has always involved a paradox for me. One must maintain a professioanl distance while at the same time win trust through empathy.This sometimes creates a situation where the patient draws close to the therapist. Discovering and maintaining the appropriate distance to achieve therapeutc outcomes becomes a real challange.
