the first time I had a client who drew a snowperson was during a family group (teens and their family members). the subject was supposed to be a door that led to a "special place." this mother drew a kind of misshapen snowman figure. when asked if she would like to share her drawing with the group, she got up and left. her younger child (a daughter, about 12) also drew a similar picture. the older child (a boy, about 14) drew something else, can't remember what, but also not the assigned subject. since then I have had other clients draw smowman or snowpeople, but again without an explanation and usually the drawing is again not related to what was asked to be drawn. I recently found one reference to this type of drawing and it was related to abuse, but cannot at this moment remember where I saw the reference. any other ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!
