A single course is not going to provide the knowledge and experience necessary to work with children and their parents. Even with the personal qualities you see in yourself, It is unlikely that anyone will suggest work opportunities in that area until you have demonstrated your qualifications during several years of study and internships in an accredited educational program. Your personal experience only becomes an asset after you have successfully completed the usual course of study in your area of specialty, which in the U.S.is at minimum a Master's degree in psychology or a related field.
