In response to your work with siblings and grief, I support your idea to refrain from artmaking when you are overwhelmed with your own memories and feelings. It is not a power play; rather it sounds like it would be the ethical and clinically correct choice. Every art therapist has their own style regarding how much they engage in artmaking with clients. But our style should also be informed by the client's needs at the time as well as the confidence we have at that moment that our artwork will support our client's growth and healing.
