i have just completed the application process and will be attending Eastern Virginia Medical School (Norfolk,VA) in the fall. so......hope that helps. also you might contact someone from the education board of the AATA. there is no official rating because the programs are very different...some more spiritually based, others clinical, or expressive therapy based. you have to find what you are looking for. good luck. i found that visiting the schools really helps. the more prominent programs seems to be more involved on a national level with the American Art Therapy Assoc. I also was able to tell how rigourous the curriculium (sp?) was from the individual school's websites. Some require a thesis dissertation and defense, while others do not. Some you come one class away from having the credits to obtain a LPC counseling license in that state. Also, I would check out the internship/practicum options. This is obviously a very important part of one's training so you would like the school to have many options avaliable in different settings. I think the average number of credits for graduating is between 60-64 credits at the top programs.
