You should read the book _Touched with Fire_ by Kay Redfield Jamison. This book gives an excellent explanation of the link between the creative endeavor and madness. It also includes in depth examples of well known individuals, including Van Gogh and Byron, who have appeared to link both creativity and madness within their own personality.
