I hope it is not too late to contact you on this subject. Perhaps my book Puppets and Psychodrama could be of use for you. It is based on the work with chronic psychotic patients in a big psychiatric hospital for many years. One main item is that while they do not answer direcly to face to face communication, they do response to the communication made through the puppets. I have developed a theoretical approach that involves the contributions of psychology, psychiatry, neurophysiology and ethology mainly.
