I conducted art therapy groups with older adults in nursing homes. Due to their regressed levels I conducted group with loose media.
I adapted the paint brushes to be more confortable to them. I taped the brush to a cut up milk carton handle.
Each member of the group made bibs.
Lots for smelly markers for them to identify color and fruit.
Began each class with the same music for 5 minutes of movement therapy
Used various beans and seeds and made morroccas
Used different fabrics for sensations and projection exercises.
All in all, the dexterity exercises helped their memory increase -- allowing them to remember me and the weekly activity.
By the end of the year, their fine motor skills increased 20 - 40 % where they were able to manipulate smaller and tighter objects for the directives.
