The Marywood College, in Scranton, Pennsylvania houses a Master of Arts Degree in Art Therapy. Requirements for entry include 15 semester credits in studio art and 12 semester credits in psychology (including developmental and abnormal courses.) The Marywood Program has a long tradition of excellence in art therapy education. Program emphasis is on personal artistic growth and integrated academic and clinical studies. Bruce L. Moon, author of Existential Art Therapy: The Canvas Mirror, Essentials of Art Therapy Training and Practice, Introduction to Art Therapy: Faith in the Product, and Art and Soul: Reflections on an artistic psychology is the program director.
Marywood is nestled in the western edge of the Pocono Mountains and is a beautiful setting. At the same time it lays just 2 hours from Philadelphia and New York City, making many cultural opportunities available to students.
