I just learned of a connection between us. I provide substance abuse services to inmates in the Kansas Department of Corrections. In fact, most within-the-walls treatment falls under my supervision. The contract for this work, as you may already know, mandates cognitive-based therapy. Today, my counterpart in the community-based component of services mentioned that her agency utilizes the work of John Bush (I assume there’s only one such guy in this field) and his colleague. Although at the contract start-up I elected to base treatment on the newly-published Beck manual for substance abuse therapy, I’ve requested that the Department permit me to access their training. If I have all this right, I’ll be knowing more about you than I had expected.
