I would like to comment on the idiotic behavior from this person who calls himself Brian G. I do not know what kind of background you have as far as education and experience. But what I do know is that you are responding in a very immature way to a website that is helping many people. You have the right to have differeing opinions, I do not think anyone disagrees with you on that. However, I assume you are a professional-start acting like one! You are acting like a 5 year old kid who is very angry about something and have choosen Dr. Shapiro's forum to vent. As far as Brian's claims about EMDR, I can understand where he is coming from. As I stated, everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, instead of making jabs and insults here, why don't you start your own page? There are a lot of people who can be helped from this site and your negativity might hamper those for who EMDR might be a solution. I know for me that EMDR saved my life, literally. After 8 years of cognitive, electroconvulsive, and behavior therapy, I was still a 75 pound anorexic and very skeptical about the whole "eye" therapy thing. I laughed as my therapist set up the lights. However, 2 years later, I am healthy, happy, and enjoying life to the fullest. I have no regrets and would recommend it to anyone. As in any type of therapy, what works for some might not work for others. EMDR worked for me while ECT, cognitive, and behavioral therapy did not! EMDR might or might not work for you, but at least give it a try.
