I printed out all the interactions between Brian and the responders re the research for and against EMDR, and it was both gratifying and educational. To know a therapy is helpful because of your own review of the literature and the response of your patients is one thing, but to have such a good review of the literature laid out--both the pros and the cons--and to then be affirmed, is excellent.
I did feel distressed about the individual who was afraid to "try again" because of what was posted here, because I fear it was the intensity of the verbage that scared her or him, rather than the actual content of the information.
I would encourage any individuals who are distressed by the interchange to print out the text and review it. It was much easier to see and get an overall perspective on the situation--redundancies, frustrations, the actual nature of articles refered to again and again, attempts to get responses to clear statements, personal style, etc. Very helpful.
