"I think that the readers are quite capable of drawing their own conclusions and won't be "scared away" by I am quite sure you are wrong about this. I am scared, and do not see EMDR as worth the risk.
a critic or two."
There are a lot of "clients" who read this board. There are a lot of us who have already been through enough s*$t.
It isnt just the idea that this type of therapy has its criticisms in that it is only a glorified cbt theory. But what about all the 'hoopla' that EMDR can hurt a client more by those therapists that aren't trained fully/properly (been there, done that)
What about opening up all that stuff, and then when time is up, sending that client on their way with a so called "safe place" and a "call me if you need to talk" but knowing full well that inside your head is not safe. (been there, done that)
etc. etc.
The argument could be that it was the therapist that hurt the client. But how am i suppose to know which therapist is trained properly? is competent? They all claim to be.
I was willing to give another try... but what is the point with all the criticism?
