Thanks for your response, Brian. I didn't think you were hearing me before, but now I do. I'm glad you agree that we can agree to disagree and that doesn't make either of us faulty in our reasoning or inadequate in any other way. That's the whole point of critical thinking. We can look at information, engage in evaluating it, and arrive at our own conclusions. I welcome this kind of exchange as long as it is carried out with mutual respect. I have been aware of both zealous supporters of EMDR and equally zealous critics long before I began my training in the method. I have wondered why there seems to be so much intensity on both sides, and I am well aware that there is research being conducted by both advocates and critics. It is difficult to evaluate whose subjectivity is the more objective, but I concluded some time ago that total scientific objectivity is an oxymoron. I do not feel allied with either "camp", and I will continue to pay attention to all the evidence in my effort to provide the best clinical services I can for my clients.
