Re: Somatic complaints

I am presently working with a patient who has fibromyalgia, and we have both been surprised by the remarkable efficacy of EMDR in alleviating her symptoms. This patient had absorbed much emotional abuse from a severely narcisstic mother, and the trauma apparently manifested itself through the various somatic symptoms that she was experiencing. As a result of desensitizing and reprocessing her early experiences, as well as working on present issues, she is in total remission with her gastric disturbances, and her neuromuscular complaints have diminished significantly, as well.
