    EMDR for Eating Disorders
    Allison · 1/23/00 at 10:28 pm ET

I suffered from both anorexia and bulimia for eight years. I had been in treatment 8 times, including many hospital stays. I was at the verge of just giving up when I found a therapist who was practicing EMDR. I was very skeptical at first and could not stop laughing at the absurdity of it all. Well, 1 year later, I have gained 30 pounds, eat whatever i want, and am no longer obsessed with food. I can only explain a miracle. It took me about 3 months to do what I had already spent over $100,000 trying to do unsuccessfully.

I write this because I have not seen any articles dealing with this type of treatment in response to eating disorders. Is it recognized as a valuable tool in helping those recover from eating disorders?
