Is it unusual to have an extreme emotional response during EMDR? I think our bodies only give us what we can handle, but during a treatment the other day, I was overwhelmed by sadness and then a rage so intense I didn't consider myself to be safe around other people. All of this was unexpected as I had no idea it was residing inside me. Also, assuming we store unexpressed emotions in our body as energy, how does EMDR address that? Or is it still necessary to express what may have gone unexpressed during trauma?
