    Dear Brittanny,
    Francine is out of town for a few weeks, so I will answer with the little bit I know about REM sleep and EMDR. During REM sleep, information is processed. At this time it is unknown whether the eye movements start the processing, or whether the processing gets the eyes moving.
    EMDR is similar because the bi-lateral stimulation we artificially create somehow causes acccelerated information processing in the brain--going towards adaptive resolution of the material. This is what REM is attempting to do.
