I don't intend this as personal
advice of any kind, but my experience
in practicing EMDR for 8 or so years
has shown me that remarkable things
can and do happen in a very short
    time. The conventional wisdom about
two years or whatever is just that:
    "conventional wisdom."

EMDR defies conventional wisdom as far
as the speed of change and rapid relief
    of emotional distress.

As far as the memory not being accessible,
it may not be necessary. Emdr can bring
memories up that were difficult to access
on one's own. It is not hypnosis, however.

If you are indeed ready to tackle the
possibility of scary memories, EMDR is
    a good place to start.

    Good Luck.

    Dr. Dan
