The controlled research on EMDR is very positive. You can take a look at the paperback book EMDR by Shapiro & Forrest (1997). You can also speak to some other clients: www.onelist.com and do a search for EMDR
You need to speak to someone who can directly address your fears. You also need to make sure that the EMDR therapist is fully trained and familiar with your problem. There is an EMDR resource development protocol that can help initially to prepare you for the treatment. After experiencing that you will probably be able to make a more informed decision.
